How to Change Your Car's Oil

The engine oil change is a part of your basic maintenance. it keeps your vehicle well. engine oil is basically used for avoiding the friction loss in the moving parts in the engine.it also keep your engine cool by reducing heat.changing oil isn't brain surgery. It's a very easy task and anyone can do it on his own. Depending upon your driving conduct and type of vehicle, this will take as few as three months or 3,000 miles (4,800 km), or as long as 20,000 miles (32,000 km) or 24 months. In this blog, you will get to know how to do this task by yourself.so let's get started.

01) Find the drain plug

It generally located under the oil pan at the bottom of the engine. It's a big nut or plug. You have to crawl under your car or jack up the car to reach there. Place a container under the oil drain plug.

Take a big container to collect all your old oil. you don't want a mass.right?

02) Unscrew the oil drain plug and Removing the oil filter

while you are unscrewing the plug be ready to move your hand of the way. you may use a rag or some paper towels for that. Remove the cap from the oil filler also.
Its very simple, first try to remove it by your hand and twist the filter counterclockwise. if it doesn't work then you may need an oil filter removal tool.this will help prevent spillage.  before replacing filter please moisten the gasket on the top of the new filter. After that follow directions on the filter or gently turn it by hand until it gets its own seats and then gives it another three-quarter turn.

03) Replace the oil drain plug

After removing all the oil from the pan, make sure to tight the oil plug. Wipe around the place where the oil drain plug goes.

04) Use a funnel to pour and check for leakage

you should not try to do it fast or quickly. pour slowly and allow the oil to run down. after that, the engine should run around 40 to 60 seconds and check for any kind of leakage. the leakage might be from oil drain plug and oil filter, so keep your eyes on there. after that shut off the engine for a while (Around 8 - 12 minutes) then check the oil level. if it's lower than its reference than Keep adding oil a little at a time.

after completing all the steps all you need a test drive. Go around the block a couple of times. Let the oil settle down again for 5 to 10 minutes, then recheck the dipstick.

So that's it. You have efficiently learned the way to change your oil! As a very last step, take away the old oil by taking it to an auto parts shop or other oil-recycling centers.
